The Michiana SCORE Chapter 266 was founded in 1972. We are an active chapter and have more than 20 volunteers. The counselors of Michiana Chapter are experienced business owners and managers who volunteer their experience and knowledge to help small business owners and potential small business owners achieve success.
SCORE Michiana has two locations to better serve our clients.

In both periods of economic strength and during turbulent times, SCORE serves as a network of trusted mentors to help entrepreneurs solve problems and create companies and jobs.
SCORE Michiana mentors, comprised of active and retired business men and women, provide clients with free and confidential business counseling. Counseling can be conducted at the client's place of business, at our chapter headquarters in Downtown South Bend, by telephone or via email. SCORE Michiana also operated a branch in Cassopolis, MI to serve the businesses and entrepreneurs in Southwestern Michigan.

SCORE Michiana mentors and representatives from the local business community conduct a variety of regularly scheduled, low-cost educational workshops that provide valuable information and techniques necessary for establishing and managing a successful business.

MISHAWAKA HIGH SCHOOL: SUPPORTING BUSINESS EDUCATION
On Tuesday, March 12, Jim Bolinger (SCORE Michiana volunteer) met with 11 students at Mishawaka High School in Mishawaka, IN. The teacher / coordinator was Mrs. Jan Hank. The students were juniors and seniors taking a course in entrepreneurship. The discussion with the students included frequent causes of business failure and the financial requirements for starting and maintaining a business.
PENN HIGH SCHOOL PRESENTATION: SUPPORTING ENTREPRENEURSHIP
On Wednesday, January 23, 2013, Jim Bolinger, a SCORE Michiana volunteer, met with 40 students at Penn High School in St. Joseph County, IN. Jim attended Ms. Morgan O'Grady's class and spoke about small business ownership and entrepreneurship to the group of freshmen and sophomores.
The discussion included (a) What are the Most Frequent Causes of Business Failure, (b) Small Business Readiness Self- Assessment, (c) Myths and Realities of Entrepreneurship, (d) Do You Have What It Takes, (e) Test Your Potential to be an Entrepreneur, and (f) Characteristics of An Entrepreneur.
The students were specifically interested in the courses that should be taken in high school to prepare for a career in business.
